Jehovah, ‘the Lord of Hosts,’ invincible in battle, above all a god of conquest for the embattled Israelites, is translated as Allah by Islam where again victory has been his inimitable signature. 

The spread of Islam is no more attributable to the sway of the sword than the spread of Christianity, though we tend to forget what we don't like to talk about.  Doubtless Christians are not the only ones who see things in their own colours, heedless.   We will all have to learn a broader vision if we are to co-exist, if we are to continue to exist.
