The parable of the absentee landlord of the vineyard (Mk.12. 1 ; Mt.21. 33 ; Lk.20. 9 ) makes Israel or the wide world a Piscean wine estate visited by the landlord’s servants (prophets) and finally his only son who is murdered by those left in charge. Wine and all bibulous spirits are part of the life of Pisces, deeper feelings (see Note on Cana wedding.)

Not only does the Son embody the spirit of the Fishes but His Father also shares this spirit : Pisces is Jupiter’s other Sign (see Planets and Signs Key) and other nature, after Sagittarius. This identity is repeatedly emphasised in St John ‘No one comes to the Father, except by me.’ ‘I am in the Father and the Father in me.’ (14. 6,10 .)

Astrology agrees with the Kabbalah and the Gospels : this absentee landlord is present everywhere, watching, directing.

The Gospels are studded with imagery of wine and the vine. The image of new wine being put in new bottles is specially striking : the exciting Pisces spirit and the heady new message for a new age contained in the New Covenant of a new church. John seems to be particularly keen to present this Kabbalistic identity, in keeping with his far bolder expression of Jesus’ divinity. Often abandoning any pretence to a literal history or credible quotations.

John is also the only Gospel to give us the miracle at the wedding feast, water into wine, and John emphasises this symbolism even more pointedly in a lengthy metaphor : ‘I am the true vine and my Father is the vinedresser...’ (15. 1-8 NJB) Finally all the Gospels agree in presenting an especially resonant image : Jesus is given a sop of vinegar in His last moments on the Cross. When the spirit has departed, wine turns to vinegar.

With consistent Kabbalistic imagery, at the End Revelation prophesies the harvest of this global Piscean vineyard : ‘Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.’ (14. 18-20 and 19. 15 )
