Jesus Christ is the divine spirit of the Crown, the Bridegroom, at the head of the Tree of Life. The Son of God is the divine translation of the planet-god Neptune, the Lord of the Fishes, the sign of the sea and the vine. This supreme spirit is the first and the last, the beginning and the end of our Solar System. The Cross is the precise image of the Tree of Life and Christ wears His Crown in thorns. Judas Iscariot echoes Christ’s name and fate, hung upon the Tree. Judas represents the darker side of the two Fishes, the last among the Twelve. The untimely death of Christ is prefigured in the ancient myth of Abel. Abel Traditionally represents this same spirit of supreme sanctity and sacrifice. The Greeks multiplied their images of this most exalted spirit : Poseidon, the Roman Neptune, was the lord of the seas and the fishes; Dionysus was the lord of wine, the prince of many lands; Adonis was the lord of love, the tragic lover of Venus; Orpheus was the divine musician and lord of the mysteries of the afterlife; and Prosepine was carried off to Hades to be the young queen of dusky Dis, the Roman Pluto. |
